Geknipst: What do you think would be the ideal weight for a quarterback?
Shirdonya Mitchell: For a quarterback? Oh... I would say, at least 220. Maybe for a quarterback... yeah, I’d say 220. (about 100kg) Geknipst: You know how much that is in kilograms? Shirdonya Mitchell: Oh man! Oh man! I can’t even... in kilograms? (Everyone laughs) Shirdonya Mitchell: Nah, maybe 195... maybe?! Is that right? 95? Maybe 95 kilograms? I don’t know anything about kilograms! =) Geknipst: And how far does a quarterback have to throw? Shirdonya Mitchell: It’s difficult to answer that question but at least like 15 yards. He has got to be able to throw the ball deep. But most throws are from 10 to 15 yards. You have got to be able to throw at least 15 yards... But that’s the minimum. But as far as arm strength - I mean every quarterback is different - some have stronger arms, but at least probably 15 yards. Geknipst: Can you explain how you’re feeling while playing? During a game or maybe an important game. Shirdonya Mitchell: I am one of the persons that is actually relaxed during a game. I don’t do too much, I get excited but I am never overanxious or too nervous or too overexcited. I am kinda a relaxed person naturally so it’s coming naturally on the field that I am real calm and collective. But during the week, if it’s a big game, I might be excited to get to the game but once the game started I’m pretty much calm. Geknipst: So you just forget everything around you? Shirdonya Mitchell: Well, I don’t forget everything around me. I have awareness of what’s going on as far as time wise and plays and things I need to know. But as far as distractions ... nah! Sometimes you can catch me looking in the stands. I might be pointing, I might be laughing. So, I’m really relaxed during the game. |
Geknipst: How difficult is it actually to play on wet grass? If the weather is really bad, how does the team have to react?
Shirdonya Mitchell: Wet grass is actually part of football, I mean, every game is gonna be different. It can be sunny, 85 degrees. (about 30°C) But on wet grass you just gotta get long spikes which you screw into the grass so you have more grip and won’t do as much sliding. And you just gotta work around it. What you do is you gotta work around it. (Noise of an airplane... really frigging loud!) (Everyone’s laughing) Shirdonya Mitchell: Heeeeyyy! Oh man! (Signs a couple of posters in the meantime.) |
